Don’t Make This Demo Mistake

Last week I received a message from a fellow voice actor. She wanted me to listen to her new demo. It’s actually a request I receive regularly, though, admittedly, I don’t consider myself an expert on demo critiques. That said, I was still happy to listen and share my thoughts.

And therein I found a major problem.

The Changing Face Of The Internet

imagesAccording to various sources approximately one third of all web traffic now comes from mobile devices. That means a lot of people are surfing the web using their smartphones and tablets.

That means a lot of potential clients are surfing your web site with smartphones and tablets.

Is your web site ready? Have you adapted?

Do you have a mobile version or a responsive theme?

Don’t Make This Demo Mistake

What was the major problem that I found when I clicked the link the voice talent sent me to listen to her demo? I couldn’t listen! You see, I had clicked the link from my iPad and her demo was not mobile friendly.

Your demo is arguably the most important feature of your voice over site. If it’s not playing for mobile users, that’s a ton of potential business you could be losing out on.

You need to make sure you’re using a player or plug-in that is HTML 5 compatible. You do not want a demo that requires Flash, as it will not play on iOS devices.

If you’re unsure about whether or not your demos are mobile friendly, start surfing. Try them from various smartphones and tablets, including iPhone and iPad. This is the easiest way to make sure you’re compatible among all the various mobile platforms.
