The Best Days To Send Marketing Emails

I wouldn’t consider myself to be an expert on the subject of marketing. That said, I would certainly consider myself a student of marketing. That’s pretty important in the voice over business, when marketing to new and potential clients is what will grow and sustain your business.

Every week I set aside time to send introductory emails to potential new clients. Some weeks I send five or six. Other weeks I send dozens. I’ve been doing this for a couple years now.

With literally hundreds of emails sent, there are a few patterns I’ve noticed. There’s no science behind my results. Just a little bit of common sense and logic. For some, it may go without saying. For others, this is just a friendly reminder.

The Best Days To Send Marketing Emails

tuesday-wednesdayThe emails I’ve sent with the best return are emails that go out Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I can’t provide you any hard statistics. I haven’t kept that detailed of information. However, I can say with full confidence, that when I send emails on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, I’m most likely to get a response.

Think about it. Where’s your head at on Friday? Is it on work? Or is it on the weekend? If your inbox fills up on Friday are you dealing with it Friday? Or are you doing some hardcore filtering and selective responding; delaying the lower priority and unfamiliar emails to “sometime next week?”

What about Monday? Monday is all about catch up, isn’t it? Catch up and preparation for the week ahead. It’s revisiting the stuff you didn’t get done Friday, sifting through the stuff that came in over the weekend, and trying to figure out your schedule and priorities for the week ahead.

Keep It Short and Simple

Remember, an introductory email is just that. An introductory email. It’s not your life story. Not your complete resume. It’s just an introduction. I include a link to a landing page. For example, when I send an email to explainer video production companies I direct them to msvo.me/ExplainerGuy. That way, if they’d like, they can listen to my demo and find out a little more about me.

That gives a foundation to build on.

If email marketing is part of your business plan and over all strategy, evaluate the days you’re sending those emails. Try Tuesdays, Wednesdays or even Thursdays and see if you notice an increase in your response rate.
