Script Tip: Prices

Voiceover Script Tip - PricesTis the season for sales!

Christmas sales. Boxing Day sales. New Years sales. Year end blowout sales.

One thing all of those sales have in common… prices.

Tale Of Two Prices

Whether they’re in commercials, videos or on hold messages, those prices are going to be in many of the voice over scripts you’ll write (if you’re a Voice Seeker) or receive (if you’re a Voice Talent) over the next few weeks.

So let me ask you, how do you say $29.95?

Would that be twenty nine – ninety five?

Or would that be twenty nine dollars and ninety five cents?

Write It Out

If you’re sending a script to a voice talent, make sure you’re clear on how you want the prices said. That way there’s no confusion.

As a talent, if I know exactly how you want it said, that helps me get your audio right the first time. That means no retakes, no time wasted, and more time gained for you on your deadline.

Since we’re on the subject, you’ll want to do the same for phone numbers too.

Here’s wishing you incredible success with all your holiday sales this year!
