A Roadblock To Success

I get it. Jumping into voice over with both feet is hard. Scary. Intimidating. Hey, it took me years before I made the plunge. Even then, I didn’t jump in so much as I was pushed. Forcefully. Without warning.

In the few years that have passed since I made the commitment to pursuing my voice over career full-time, there’s one lesson I’ve learned.

You can’t have full-time success with part-time commitment. Click to Tweet

Almost daily I hear from people who are “trying to break in.” They’re spending a half hour here, an hour there, in between their day job, their favourite TV show and kids baseball practice. They’re submitting a few auditions a day, or maybe a week, and wondering where the riches, fame and glory are.

A Roadblock To Success

You can’t have full-time success with part-time commitment.

Not everybody can dive in. Like I said, I get it. But as with any other endeavour in life, you get out what you put in. If you’re only putting in a few hours here and there and expecting your career to take off, I’m telling you right now, don’t hold your breath.

Entreprenuership is not for the faint of heart. If you really want to make the magic happen… get your hands dirty. Make no mistake about it, if you’re going to be a full-time voice talent, you better be ready to be an entrepreneur!

If you want it bad enough, you’ll sacrifice for it. It’s the only way to breakthrough this roadblock to success.
